What experienced buyers put in the RFQ and check on arrival. * Send a 3D model and a 2D drawing with critical dimensions, machining allowances and the casting tolerance grade (e.g. ISO 8062 CT class). * Ask for a chemistry and mechanical test certificate per heat, and check the alloy on arrival by spectro analysis or PMI. * Budget for pattern or die costs up front, and confirm in writing who owns the tooling. Rajkot is the best-known cluster for investment castings in steel and stainless steel, with strong capacity also in Coimbatore, Pune, Kolhapur and Belagavi. The right city depends on part size, alloy and the machining you need after casting. ### What is the difference between sand casting and investment casting? Sand casting uses a sand mould and suits larger, simpler parts at low tooling cost. Investment casting uses a wax pattern and ceramic shell, giving finer detail, thinner walls and a better surface finish at a higher piece price. ### Can Indian foundries supply machined, ready-to-fit castings? Yes. Most export foundries machine in-house or through nearby partners and supply finished parts with dimensional reports. Ask for a first-article inspection report before approving production.
