Areca plates are made from palm sheath and water, without binders, so they break down naturally. For a formal compostability claim, ask for testing to EN 13432 in the EU or ASTM D6400 in the US. ### Do bagasse plates contain PFAS? Some moulded fibre products use fluorinated grease-proofing agents. Ask for PFAS-free formulations and a test report; in the EU, PFAS limits for food-contact packaging apply from 12 August 2026 under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. ### Why do areca plates vary in shade?
