A home textiles inspection confirms size, fabric, finish, labels and set completeness on a random sample drawn to ANSI/ASQ Z1.4. Defects by class ## Critical, major, minor: how we class them. Each defect in the sample is photographed and counted in its class. Your AQL plan sets how many are allowed; for critical defects the answer is none. AQL 0 ### Critical defects Likely to injure the user or breaks a mandatory rule of the destination market. One critical defect in the sample means the lot is not accepted. * Needle fragment or other metal in the product * Mould, live insects or foreign matter in fillings * Curtains and blinds: accessible looped cords without the safety device the market’s standard requires (e.g. EN 13120) * Children’s bedding: detachable small parts, or loose cords and ties AQL 2.5 typical ### Major defects Likely to cause a failure, reduce usability or make the product unsaleable, so a customer would return it. * Size outside tolerance, or fitted sheet pocket too shallow for the stated mattress depth * Hole, tear, open seam or broken stitching * Shade variation within a set, or against the approved colour * Print misregistration, bleeding or missing colour * Towels: pulled loops, uneven pile or frayed selvedge * Rugs: loose tufts, uneven pile height or backing that separates * Missing, wrong or illegible labels; incomplete set AQL 4.0 typical ### Minor defects A departure from the specification that does not affect use and is unlikely on its own to cause a return. * Untrimmed thread ends * Slightly uneven hem width * Small slub or mark away from the face side * Packing creases * Label slightly off position Your specification and approved sample decide the final class. Where a buyer defines zones (for example, zone A for the most visible surfaces), a defect in zone A is usually classed higher than the same defect in a hidden area. On-site tests ## Tests we run at the factory. 1. 01 **Fabric weight (GSM)** Round cutter and scale; towels also weighed per piece. 2. 02 **Colour fastness to rubbing** Dry and wet white cloth on dark and printed fabrics. 3. 03 **Towel absorbency** Water drop test: the drop should soak in quickly and evenly. 4. 04 **Seam slippage** Hand check at stress points on covers and cushions. 5. 05 **Closure check** Zips, buttons and envelope openings on covers work smoothly. 6. 06 **Fit check** Fitted sheets on a mattress or frame of the stated size and depth. We measure at least five units per size or version against your specification and tolerances, and report every reading. Packing and labelling ## Packed right, labelled right. * Sets complete: cover, sheets and pillowcases as listed * Folding, insert card and retail bag or box as the approved sample * Bags carry a suffocation warning where required * Barcode and size on the pack match the product * Rugs rolled or folded as instructed, wrapped and labelled * Cartons dry, sealed, marked and within the weight limit * Shipping marks, carton count, gross weight and dimensions agree with the packing list Market marks ## What your market expects. EU Fibre composition under Regulation (EU) 1007/2011. UK Fibre composition under the Textile Products (Labelling and Fibre Composition) Regulations 2012. US Fibre content, country of origin and maker identity under the Textile Act; stuffed-article law labels where state rules require them. Australia Permanent care label under the care labelling information standard. Eco claims OEKO-TEX or organic labels only where a valid certificate covers the product. We check marks and documents against your specification. Your compliance team or test lab confirms which rules apply to your exact product. How we inspect it ## On the floor, step by step. We count sets and cartons, then open sampled units fully: sheets are unfolded and measured, towels weighed, covers zipped and unzipped, rugs unrolled on a clean floor. Colour is compared with the approved sample in a light box. Weight per piece and GSM, size, pile evenness, pulled loops, hem and selvedge quality, colour against the approved sample, rubbing fastness and a water drop absorbency check, plus labels and packing. ### How do you check bedding sizes? We lay each sampled piece flat without tension and measure length, width, hems and flaps against your specification. Fitted sheets are also checked for pocket depth and fit on a frame of the stated size. ### Do you check OEKO-TEX or organic claims? Yes. We record the certificate number on the label or hangtag, check it is valid online and confirm it covers the product. Testing for substances is done in an accredited lab.
