Sanganer and Bagru near Jaipur are the best-known centres, together with Kutch in Gujarat for Ajrakh. Many units work with natural and azo-free dyes.
Are Indian dyes safe for EU and UK markets?
Export units use azo-free dyes and can test to REACH and OEKO-TEX requirements. Ask for reports from an accredited lab.
What is chikankari?
Chikankari is a fine hand embroidery from Lucknow, traditionally white thread on light cotton. Lucknow Chikan Craft is GI-registered.
