Cast-iron fitness equipment. How India makes them.
Cast-iron fitness equipment is best sourced from Punjab and western Uttar Pradesh: Jalandhar and Meerut for sports and fitness goods, with iron foundries in Batala, Ludhiana and Agra. Foundries sand-cast kettlebells, hex and round dumbbells and weight plates, then finish them with powder coating, vinyl dipping or rubber encasing.

How our inspections work- Weight check on every piece against the agreed tolerance, for example ±2%
- Coating adhesion cross-cut test (ISO 2409)
- Salt spray test on powder coating (ISO 9227)
- Drop test onto a rubber floor for chipping and cracks
- PAH and phthalate tests on vinyl or rubber coatings for the EU

[email protected]How accurate are cast-iron kettlebell weights?
Sand-cast weights vary, so good suppliers weigh every piece and correct it by grinding or filling. Agree a tolerance such as ±2% in the purchase order and check it at inspection.
Powder coat, vinyl or rubber: which finish should I choose?
Powder coating is durable and economical, vinyl dipping gives a softer grip and bright shades, and rubber encasing protects floors best. Test adhesion and chipping on samples, whichever you choose.
Why does freight matter so much for fitness equipment?
Cast iron is heavy and low in value per kilo, so a container reaches its weight limit long before it is full. Plan mixed loads and compare quotes on landed cost per kilo.
