Investment castings. How India makes them.
Investment castings in carbon, alloy and stainless steel are best sourced from Rajkot, Coimbatore, Pune, Kolhapur, Belagavi and Hyderabad. Indian lost-wax foundries supply near-net-shape parts for pumps, valves, marine hardware, food machinery and vehicles, often machined and ready to fit.

How it is made, in 6 steps.
The sequence Indian factories follow, from raw material to an approved part ready to ship.
- Wax pattern injectionAluminium die makes a wax replica of the part
- Ceramic shell buildingDipped and stuccoed in layers, then dried
- Dewax & pourShell fired, molten alloy poured at controlled temperature
- Knock-out & heat treatmentNormalising, hardening or solution annealing to spec
- CNC finishingCritical faces and threads machined
- Inspection & PPAPChemistry, hardness, CMM report, first-article approval
What buyers plan around.
- Typical HS heading
- 7325 (cast articles of iron or steel); parts often classify by function, e.g. 8481.90
Check 7325 in the HS code finder - Lead time
- Samples 5–7 weeks including wax tooling, production 6–8 weeks
- India's edge
- India's lost-wax foundries combine modest tooling costs with in-house machining, which makes them a strong fit for low to medium volumes of complex steel parts.

[email protected]What is the minimum order for investment castings in India?
Many foundries accept 100–500 pieces per part, and some take smaller lots for high-value parts. Wax tooling costs far less than a die-casting die.
Which alloys do Indian investment foundries cast?
Common alloys include carbon steel (WCB), low-alloy steels, stainless 304 and 316 (CF8 and CF8M), duplex stainless and 17-4 PH.
Who owns the wax die?
The buyer usually pays for and owns the wax die. Confirm ownership, storage and return terms in writing.
