- Put the steel grade, heat-treatment condition and hardness range on the drawing (e.g. 42CrMo4, hardened and tempered).
- Ask for macro-etch grain-flow checks on first articles, and ultrasonic testing for safety-critical parts.
- Forging dies are costly, so order enough volume to spread the cost and agree die life and ownership.

Pune–Chakan in Maharashtra is the largest for automotive and industrial forgings, followed by Ludhiana, Rajkot, Faridabad and Hosur. Mandi Gobindgarh and Jamshedpur add steel supply and heavier work.
Is forging stronger than casting?
Forged parts usually have better strength and fatigue resistance because the grain follows the part shape and there is little porosity. Casting allows more complex shapes and is often cheaper for lightly loaded parts.
Can I get forged flanges to ASME or EN standards?
Yes. Many Indian forge shops make flanges to ASME B16.5 and EN 1092-1 with EN 10204 3.1 certificates. Confirm material grade, pressure class and marking before ordering.
